About Be The Bridge Project
There is a new, community initiative coming to Kingwood Christian Church this fall called the “Be the Bridge Project” This project is based on some central affirmations. It affirms that Jesus cares about racism and calls his followers to be activists for reconciliation. It affirms that loving and valuing all people was central to his life and work. As a result, we follow in his footsteps when we continue this important work… for there is much work to be done.
Though much progress has been made, the racial divide still exists in our country and local community. We want to be a bridge from division and fragmentation to unity and wholeness. Bridging this divide starts with gathering courageous and compassionate people willing to listen and learn from history and the experiences of people of color in our community. The choice to listen with an open mind is where compassionate activism and lasting change begins.
The “Be the Bridge Project” hopes to partner with others in our community inspired by this dream of racial healing regardless of their faith or political affiliation. We invite anyone who wants to be a bridge builder to join this important conversation. We will start with dinner at 6:30 in Fellowship Hall and then move into our presentation and dialogue.
